Message from JOhn Doe , PEACH President
On March 17, 2020, the challenging decision to postpone all PEACH gatherings was made, in compliance with the recent "shelter in place" order to combat the spread of COVID-19 which has been extended through April 30th. I understand the disappointment and discouragement our families are facing during this time, as events, activities, proms, and graduations are put on hold. None of us could have anticipated the impact "social distancing" could have on our personal and professional lives. Many of our dads and moms are working from home while others have lost their jobs entirely. Hopefully, this has created opportunities for your family to spend more time together, doing some home or yard projects, having meals together and reflection on the blessings of God, family and our nation. I pray our PEACH Families remain healthy and have what they need during this time. Please join me in praying for:
*All medical teams, first responders, store employees, truck drivers, utility workers, and others serving our communities.
*For our churches and Pastors, to be encouraged as they minister to others.
*For those who have lost an income during this shutdown, that they will be able to return to work soon and our economy will bounce back quickly!
Lastly, please stay connected with one another!

As we are all facing limited social contacts, this would be a great time to reach out to others in our group. The PEACH Board would like to remind you that the PEACH Member Directory is up & ready for you to use on Peachonline.org. You may manage your privacy settings on your account after you log in, and change them at any point. You’re able to look up contact information about fellow PEACH members, as they have allowed on their personal settings. You may be the source of encouragement as you reach out with a text, phone call, or email!

PEACH Friend JANE DOE  finds out how to homeschool in a hurry!
After receiving the order that all Texas schools were closing due to COVID 19 concerns, Susie was placed in a challenging situation. She had friends that homeschooled and though she had always wanted to try it for her daughter Charlotte, the timing never seemed appropriate.
I would like to share something positive that has come out of the COVID19 pandemic for me. I can finally homeschool! Granted, it was forced to some extent . I see this as a blessing for myself and other families that are having a chance to teach their children. We are in the middle of week 3 . I have had a few challenges with my youngest daughter's attitude toward me being her teacher, me getting frustrated at all the different websites and user name/password given by the school, and not really even being aware of what Charlotte was truly working on in class. We are learning together and are beginning to settle in place. What I love is the time spent with Charlotte, right now! She brings up some wonderful points and it sparks great conversations that have been so nice in building our relationship. She is 8 years old and I love her having our family influence, mixing it with our faith, love, humor and life experiences..
The school district and teachers were not prepared for a forced shut down and they are doing their best. However, I am finding that with their curriculum I am spending almost 8 hours a day right alongside Charlotte doing her work collaboratively. I do not mind that, but I am still working during this time and 8 hours is too much for her. She is missing the socialization of her friends at school. I am HIGHLY considering at this point to go ALL IN and start to homeschool her with a recommended program by a few of my longtime homeschooling mammas, that I respect and love! Her time spent studying should be much shorter, allowing time to play outside and downtime to be creative. She does not have that with the public school curriculum. I feel at this time in our history, there could be a huge shift from the private and public schools to homeschooling.

Parents have been given the opportunity to find a way to teach our children and to get out of the mainstream. To take the time to fall in love with our families again, enjoy the quiet time, find the humor in the whole process, and to grow our children on our terms. I feel this a miracle happening right under our noses. It has made me appreciative of all teachers out there and what they do everyday. I took so much of what they did for granted. I believe that quality time is found in quantity of time, and that is what we are all being blessed with at this time, in homeschooling and the shelter-in-place. Thankful for the gifts that will come from this time in history we will use for good!
